Chad’s President Idriss Deby has been named the new leader of African Union. Although Idriss Deby, the new African Union leader is not a role model when it comes to family issues due to the fact that he has been married several times and has at least a dozen children. When it comes to administration and making the world a safer place, Deby is seen as a good president who should be emulated by other leaders.
While taking over from his predecessor who is no other person than Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe, While speaking at at AU headquarters in Ethiopia. Deby said:
“I accept this task with pleasure, but with a little agony as the responsibility you entrust in me is heavy and fraught with challenges.”
“Everything that we are doing now will be in vain and without purpose if we allow Africa to go through these perpetual crises: South Sudan, Libya, Somalia, Burundi, the Sahel, the Lake Chad basin.”
“Through diplomacy or by force… we must put an end to these tragedies of our time. We cannot make progress and talk of development if part of our body is sick. We should be the main actors in the search for solution to Africa’s crises.”

Idris Deby seem to merit the post of African Union by virtue of the fact that he is one of African leaders who has contributed a lot to the war against the Islamic terrorist group, Boko Haram.

Our patients with you shall be in vain as you come to be in position so that countries can learn from you, do something for the youths of your country Tchad. “
Others on the other hand are not in support of Idriss Deby being the new A.U leader. Kabo, who is one of those highly against Deby’s new appointment wrote:
“A man who took power in 1980 was handing chairmanship to another long ruler who took power in 1990, what is wrong with this African presidents with their tendency of staying in power for a long time?, AU is full of old men how has been there for long time but failing to solve problems facing Africa, sometimes i wonder how can you able to solve Africa problems when you failed solve problems in your own country, now i see why Botswana President never attended AU Summit since he took power in 2008 calling it a waste of time.”
On the whole, we congratulate the new African Union leader, Idriss Deby, as we look forward to what he has in stock for Africa in particular and the world in general.
