Lots of bloggers are blogging about GOOGLE VS FACEBOOK or vice versa. Let’s have a look at the similarities and differences between Facebook and Google. In fact, Facebook Ads is capable of producing demographic Ads which Google search engines can not produce. This gave Facebook Ads an edge over Google Ads, although Google still maintains the largest adverts on the net. We all know that Google is internet king considering the varieties of internet needs it provides to mankind. Facebook on the other hand is the social network leader.
Google plus was introduced by Google but it is not really a big threat to Facebook? Some Facebook supporters refer to Google+ as “Googbook” or “Googlebook”. Are we going to see Facebook introducing “Facebook+” or “Facebook plus” in future? Fact is it will take G+ so many years to acquire enough users for it to be a threat to Facebook.
I personally see Google+ having little chance over Facebook when it comes to social networking and I am predicting that Google will finally close Google+ just the way it closed Google Friendsconnect. Facebook has groups just like Google although Facebook groups are not as successful as Google Groups. How about Facebook competing with Google by introducing FACEBOOK ADSENSE? I bet that would be a web sensation and the so-called “talk of the town” all over the world. The integration of YouTube into Google plus is a very big concern which users are hoping that Google reverts to the former situation as soon as possible.
Although Google claimed that it will help to reduce irrelevant comments on YouTube but many see it as a way to try to get more users to sign up on Google+ due to the competition between Google plus and Facebook. Whatever the case may be, the choice is yours.
With the rapid growth of Facebook and its introduction of Facebook Ads, Facebook became a very big competitor to Google because majority of Google’s advertisers saw a second option in Facebook Ads. Google+ will also have the capability of displaying demographic Ads just like Facebook. Google has bought social networking site Fridge, a group coordination and photo sharing tool, and intends to integrate its functionality into Google+.
In the world of today, there is the general belief that “If you can’t beat them, join them” but as far as the social media goes, it seems it is “if you can’t beat them, buy them.
We saw how Google bought other social medias that were deemed to be competitors to Google. A very good example of this is YouTube, a social media which has dominated all others when it comes to videos on the internet.
In the same vein, Instagram was a very big threat to Facebook because more and more people were leaving Facebook and moving to Instagram when it comes to uploading photos for the world to see. Just like Google acquired YouTube and other social medias, Facebook saw it very important to buy Instagram.
Fact is Facebook is the world’s biggst social network while Google is the world’s biggest search engine. In terms of advertising, Facebook operates cost per click (CPC) and cost per mile (CPM), while Google operates Google Adwords which operates solely on a CPC basis.
