Just like Bill Cosby, dozens of women have come forward with allegations of séxual misconduct against American film producer, Harvey Weinstein. Weinstein was terminated by the board of the Weinstein Company in light of the allegations and later resigned from the board of directors. Weinstein has also been expelled by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Annabella Sciorra recently naratted how Weinstein brutally violated and assaulted her, while forcing himself on her.
Lots of Hollywood celebrities have spoken out against Weinstein. These includes: George Clooney, Kate Winslet, Jennifer Lawrence, etc. Other celebrities such as Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow and Mira Sorvino have claimed that they rebuffed Weinstein’s unwanted and inappropriate advances towards them.
George Clooney called Weinstein’s actions “indefensible.” He added “I had no idea that it had gone to the level of having to pay off eight women for their silence, and that these women were threatened and victimized.”
Winslet, who won a best actress Oscar in 2009 said that Weinstein’s behavior is “without question disgraceful and appalling and very, very wrong.”
Lisa Bloom said on Twitter that she has stepped down and resigned as Weinstein adviser and she added that “Weinstein and his board are moving toward an agreement.”
Even President Donald Trump weighed in and said “I’ve known Harvey Weinstein for a long time and I am not at all surprise to see it.”
Weinstein even got caught on tape in one of his inappropriate advances to the women. See the video below:
A spokesperson for the movie executive told The New Yorker that “any allegations of nonconsensual séx are unequivocally denied by Mr. Weinstein,” “…Mr. Weinstein believes that all of these relationships were consensual. Mr. Weinstein has begun counseling, has listened to the community and is pursuing a better path. Mr. Weinstein is hoping that, if he makes enough progress, he will be given a second chance.”
