Panic and pandemonium continue in the new year and this time around, it happened in Florida. Five people were killed and 8 others reportedly wounded after a gunman randomly opened fire at a baggage claim area at terminal 2 of the Fort Lauderdale – Hollywood International airport in Florida.
The shooter was arrested by the police and while in custody, he said he once heard voices telling him to join ISIS. The case is still being investigated and police are trying to figure out the motive behind the attack.
When the shooter was apprehended, he was in possession of a military ID with the name Esteban Santiago.
Stephanie Auclair, a woman who witnessed the scene told ABC News that she had been in a food court at the airport when she saw a wave of people running towards her and screaming, Shooter! Shooter!!

She then decided to hide in the kitchen of the restaurant for some minutes for the situation to calm down before she was being led outside to the airport tarmac.
Meanwhile, the airport has been temporarily closed and there is no movement in and outside the airport until further notice.
The security officers, law enforcement agents as well as the police need to get the whole airport checked and make sure it is safe before the it can be re-opened again.
The police has said that they will be setting up a hotline for families to be able to get informations relating to their friends and families involved in the attack. For now, they’ve asked people to visit their website for further notice.
