According to Hindustan Times newspaper, Trump administration is planning to deport an estimated 500,000 to 750,000 Indians who are living in the U.S with H-1B visa. The H-1B visa is granted to highly-skilled workers for three years with an option to extend it only once for another three years. The question is… will deporting the highly skilled workers actually make America great again?
The H-1B visa holders can apply for Green Card. They are either granted Green Card or asked to go back to their home countries. If approved for Green Card, they can wait in the US using extensions.
The Hindustan Times newspaper further reported that the US government could ask workers with H-1B visas to leave the country while they wait for pending green cards to come through and this would be disastrous for lots of Indian families living in the U.S.
The idea is reportedly to deport thousands of Indian tech workers in the United States in order to open up those jobs for Americans. This would be in conformity with Trump’s “Buy American, Hire American” propaganda. Meanwhile, some of the so-called Make America Great again caps were made outside U.S.A.
